Royal Wooton Bassett

Royal Wootton Bassett was granted royal patronage by Queen Elizabeth II in March 2011in recognition for its role in the military funeral repatriations which passed through the town.

Located just two miles from junction 16 of the M4 Royal Wootton Bassett is a lively market town which has a vibrant and welcoming High Street, proudly overlooked by the well recognised backdrop of the historic 17th century town hall, housing the town museum.

The High Street and the adjoining side streets boast a wide variety of different shops, both traditional and new, alongside churches and a library. A good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants offer a friendly welcome to those in need of refreshment.

The town even has its very own sausage, the Bassett Banger, at the local Brilliant Bassett butchers. The wide pavements around the town hall often host both community and business events and is frequently home to local stalls and displays, including a general market every Wednesday and a Farmer's market on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Affectionately known as Bassist by many locals, the town is very proud of its community spirit.
