Avebury Stone Circle
At the centre of a prehistoric complex in the Marlborough Downs stands the World Heritage site of Avebury, the largest stone circle in the world.
It is one of the finest and largest Neolithic monuments in Europe. Dating about 4.500 years ago, many of the stones were re-erected by Alexander Keiller in the 1930s. The circles and hedge enclose part of the village.
